Key Finding
Dyslipidemia was the most prevalent comorbidity among RA patients in Bangladesh — affecting 75.8% of 653 patients studied. This far exceeds global reports from Latin America (18.6%), Europe (28%), India (5.3%) and the US (7.2%).
“Alhamdulillah, my article on the prevalence of comorbidities in RA patients has been published in The Journal of Rheumatology, one of the leading Rheumatology Journals (Q1), owned by the Canadian Rheumatology Association. The most common comorbidity is dyslipidemia (75.8%). We need more research on the pattern and prevalence of dyslipidemia in the general community as well.

High LDL cholesterol is a silent threat. Most people feel no symptoms until it's too late. Regular monitoring and a healthy lifestyle can dramatically reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke.
Target: Keep LDL below 70 mg/dL
Saturated Fats
Found in red meat, full-fat dairy, and processed foods
Smoking
Damages blood vessel walls and raises bad cholesterol
Sedentary Lifestyle
Lack of exercise reduces HDL and allows LDL to rise
Genetics
Familial hypercholesterolaemia can cause very high LDL
Unmanaged Diabetes
High blood sugar contributes to LDL particle changes
Obesity
Excess body fat — especially abdominal — raises LDL levels
