Prevalence of Comorbidities and Poor Prognostic Factors Among Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis in Bangladesh

Momen Majumder MS, Bhuyian R, Hasan MJ, Choudhury MR, Haq SA, Nurmohamed MT

🔬

Key Finding

Dyslipidemia was the most prevalent comorbidity among RA patients in Bangladesh — affecting 75.8% of 653 patients studied. This far exceeds global reports from Latin America (18.6%), Europe (28%), India (5.3%) and the US (7.2%).

Alhamdulillah, my article on the prevalence of comorbidities in RA patients has been published in The Journal of Rheumatology, one of the leading Rheumatology Journals (Q1), owned by the Canadian Rheumatology Association. The most common comorbidity is dyslipidemia (75.8%). We need more research on the pattern and prevalence of dyslipidemia in the general community as well.
